Fans of the classic Subwoofer record label or Deep4Life Recordings understand that the Moonchildren and their spacey-yet-groovey collection of electronic music are just a regular part of the Chicago deep life. With exception of special guest Jalal Ouissal, the other characters who've made appearances are honestly just different Chris Gray personalities, he confesses.

It Was The Fried Chicken That Saved Our Sanity (Because The Ghetto Is Sad) is not just a fancy song title. It's one way Chris survived living in the impoverished Mississippi Delta. His momma's fried chicken was magic. No joke. And we round out this sensual EP with Sun of God, which pays homage to the salvation and rare appearance that the sun brings during a long, wicked, brutally-cold Chicago Winter. Enjoy!

After being enclosed for several years with his mpcs and synthesizers, José Rico, carris out the 5th, influenced by Detroit and, above all, Chicago.
The record starts with September rain, a classic deep house track with warm percussions, deep synths and a jazz piano. Urtzi, reworks it into a mesmerizing theme with spooky synths and naïve bass. In the another one, Stage, with raw drums, Hammonds and keyboards is somewhere between Tetrode and Deep Transportation. The record is closed by Cíclico with a super-bass and a catchy melody. Absolutely hypnotic. A diverse release for a deep house lovers.

Downbeat was borned with the efforts of F-on, Urtzi and José Rico. Firstly, Downbeat started with the format of “party”. Several artists took part of Downbeat partys: Mike Huckaby, Patrice Scott, Keith Worthy, Juju & Jordash and Rick Wade. They are parties full of deep house with soul; and Now we want to crystallize
this spirit in a record label. Downbeat is slow and hypnotic deep house, music with soul, and a big respect for black music. Downbeat wants to be a tribute to American house music, House music of Chicago, and house music of Detroit. Downbeat takes influence of producers and artists like Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Alton Miller, Larry Heard, Rick Wilhite, Mike Huckaby, Specter, Juju & Jordah, Rick Wade, Ron Trent, Kai Alcé, Kevin Reynolds, Marcellus Pittmann, Damon Lamar... and what Omar-S called “Motown Minimal Sound” We love house music and we love the vinyl. So, we want to claim the vinyl as the leader format for dance music. For this reason, we want to edit only in vinyl.

Downbeat nace de la unión de los esfuerzos de F-on, Urtzi y José Rico. En un principio Downbeat empezó con el formato de fiesta. Pasaron por los eventos Downbeat, Mike Huckaby, Patrice Scott, Keith Worthy, Juju & Jordash y Rick Wade. Fiestas llenas de deep house y de alma; y ahora queremos cristalizar ese espiritu en un sello. Downbeat es deep house de bajo tempo, música con alma, hipnósis y admiración por la música negra.
Downbeat mira de reojo al house americano, a Detroit y a Chicago.
Pretende ser un homenaje a productores como Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Alton Miller, Larry Heard, Rick Wilhite, Mike Huckaby, Specter, Juju & Jordah, Rick Wade, Ron Trent, Kai Alcé, Kevin Reynolds, Marcellus Pittmann, Damon Lamar... y lo que Omar-S llamó "Motown Minimal Sound". Amamos la música house y amamos el vinilo. Queremos reivindicar el vinilo como formato principal para la música de baile. Por eso nuestra intención es sacar Downbeat sólo y exclusivamente en formato vinilo.

F-ON (Madrid)
He has been resident Dj at Morpheus, Soma, Blonde and Skyline, and several clubs in Madrid. He Belongs to the collectives Diumm! and Abyssal Collectif, and with MC Gipillati Dub forms UD (Urban dub) a series of dubby minimal sessions. Every year he is part of the organization of the experimental music festival Sonikas, which in 2010 fulfilled his 9th edition F-on has worked in a big variety of the styles of the electronic music although has been centred of very special form in the deepest sounds of house music –from the new generation coming from Detroit, Chicago or NYC to deep sounds coming from Berlin- in minimal and experimental sounds. His sets are deep and minimal giving special importance to the linearity of the development of the speech.
Fue residente de clubes como Morpheus, Soma, Blonde y Skyline, pertenece a los colectivos Diumm! y Abyssal Collectif. Forma parte de la organización de los eventos de música experimental Klangmaschnine y junto al MC Gipillati Dub forma UD (Urban dub), una serie de sesiones de minimal dub. Además es responsable del festival de música experimental Sonikas, que en 2010 ha visto su octava edición.
Abarca gran variedad de estilos pero se ha especializado en los sonidos más profundos del House -desde la nueva generación de Detroit, Chicago o Nueva York a los sonidos deep procedentes de Europa-, el minimal o la música experimental. Sus sesiones se caracterizan por la profundidad y el minimalismo, dando especial importancia a la linealidad del desarrollo del discurso.
JOSÉ RICO (Bilbao)
José Rico has collaborated from 1995 in events of different musical styles in the North of Spain: La Real, Sala Itzela, Sala Jam …and finally he ended programming and working at Technoclub N1, Llodio (Alava).
About 2002, he moves to Madrid and makes up a club named Nuyorican, dedicated to house music, garage and black music in general, which was opened till 2003
About 2003 he starts as resident dj, weekly, at the space Zmork.
At Once, the same year he starts to work in a radio program of Madrid named Beatsoul, created by Dial Soul, collective to which he still belongs. All kind of musical works of
international and National Djs are exposed in Dial Soul.
Hi plays at friday and saturday nights at Organic -Anymus Restaurant- supported by Dial Soul and formed by 2 ambients. the first one dedicated to Breaks, R&B, Broken beats, soul and Funk; and the second one dedicated to Detroit deep house, NYC Garage, and Chicago House music.
Actually he is resident dj of Ramses restaurant and Ole Lola cafe. He has placed in clubs and festivals like Observatori (Valencia),The Room (Madrid), Soma (Madrid), One (Madrid), Itzela (Donostia), Sala Jam (Donostia), Revolution (Bilbao), Weekend (Madrid), Goldfield (Madrid), BeCool (Barcelona)......
His style is difficult to define cos he is very versatile. He touchs several styles: From to the deepest house or NYC garage to broken beats, techno, R´N´B, drumm & bass....
Colaborador de eventos de diferentes estilos musicales desde 1995 en la zona norte de España: La Real, Sala Itzela, Sala Jam, entre otras, para al final acabar programando y colaborando en Technoclub N1 en LLodio (Alava). Aproximadamente en el 2002 se traslada a Madrid y crea un club llamado Nuyorican, basado en house, garage, funk, soul, y black music en general, el cual permanecerá abierto hasta el 2003.
En el año 2003 comienza su andadura en el espacio semanal Zmork.
A la vez en el mismo año comienza a trabajar en un programa de radio de la capital llamado Beatsoul, creado por el colectivo al que aun pertenece llamado Dial Soul, en el que se expone todo tipo de trabajo musical de djs nacionales e internacionales. En 2006 creo Organic la noche de los viernes y los sábados en el restaurante Anymus, apoyada por Dial Soul y compuesta por dos ambientes, uno de Breaks, R&B, Broken, Soul o Funk, y otra basada en Deep House Detroit, NYC Garage y Chicago House. A partir de ahi comenzó a ser residente de diferentes sitios como el restaurante Ramses o el cafe Ole Lola.
Ha pinchado en salas nacionales y en festivales como Observatori (Valencia), The Room (Madrid), Soma (Madrid), One (Madrid), Itzela (Donostia), Sala Jam (Donostia), Revolution (Bilbao), Weekend (Madrid), Goldfield (Madrid), BeCool (Barcelona)....
Su estilo es complicado de definir ya que es muy polifacético, tiene varias sesiones, desde el House más profundo o garage de NYC al techno de Detroit, D&B, Broken Beats, R&B...

He has been resident dj at Technoclub N1 (Araba) before move to Barcelona.
He has played at different clubs like Soma (Madrid), One (Madrid), Sala Jam (Bergara), Zentraus (Barcelona), Cotton Club (Lleida), Emedos (Gasteiz), BeCool (Barcelona)......
He was the owner of www.micro.com.es, a minimal abstract platform influenced
by Click & Cuts.
He is influenced by the most avant-garde music and hes mixes are a reflection of this personal vision, from the House basically made in Detroit and Chicago to the darkest side of Europe, from downtempo Disco music to electronic Hip Hop full of Soul.
About his experimental side, he has taken part of festivals like Musica Ex Machina (Bilbao), Sonikas (Madrid) or Klangmaschine (Madrid).
Fue residente durante muchos años del Technoclub N1 (Llodio. Araba) antes de trasladarse en 2006 a Barcelona. Ha pasado por diferentes clubs como Soma (Madrid), One (Madrid), Sala Jam (Bergara), Zentraus (Bcn), Cotton Club (Lleida), Emedos (Gasteiz), BeCool (Bcn)...
Fue creador de la innovadora página web www.micro.com.es, una plataforma que agrupaba al sector del minimal más abstracto influenciado por la vertiente del Click & Cuts.
Desde sus inicios siempre ha estado interesado en la música más vanguardista y sus sesiones siempre han sido un fiel reflejo de una manera de pensar y de ver las cosas, pasando desde el House americano procedente básicamente de Detroit y Chicago a la vertiente más negra de Europa, del disco más calido de bajo tempo al Hip Hop electrónico lleno de Soul.
En su faceta más experimental ha participado en festivales como Música Ex Machina (Bilbao), Sonikas (Madrid) o Klangmaschine (Madrid).
